HORTIFOOD PROCESSING CENTRE (CPPO) (CPPO) at the Institute of Horticulture - National Research Institute is a modernly designed facility that performs research and development functions aimed at conducting research and creating innovations in the design of food products based on fruit and vegetables using current and future technologies that guarantee high quality and safety.
As part of the project, co-financed by the Regional Operational Program of the Łódź Province 2014-2020, a facility meeting the requirements for food production with an area of approximately 1500 m2 was built. Its main part consists of two separate, specialized technological halls meeting the process requirements for the production of the most important categories of fruit and vegetable products, including pureed juices and for the production of dried fruit and vegetables.
The CPPO offer is addressed primarily to business entities, but also to the public sector, including universities and research institutes.
In addition to conducting research in cooperation with SMEs, the Centre, together with Agricultural Advisory Centres, producers and other business environment institutions, may apply for implementation projects.
Using the experience and scientific resources of the National Research Institute of Horticulture, we implement projects that take into account technological and non-technological innovations.
Scientific cooperation is also planned, involving the admission of students from public and private universities studying horticulture, agri-food processing and food and nutrition sciences.
In addition to the technological part, the Centre also operates a laboratory focused on researching consumer preferences for processed fruit and vegetable products.
The sensory and consumer research department enables the introduction and testing of new processing methods that go beyond the routine approach and flexible creation of innovative products with special quality features that meet the expectations of the end user. The products that will be created in CPPO will be attractive to recipients both in terms of nutritional quality and functionality, which may translate into increased consumption of fruit and vegetables, and increased demand for products made from them. With a machine park and qualified staff at our disposal, we are working on increasing the range of well-known products, such as NFC juices, smoothies or jams, but also on developing technologies for new, innovative products based on horticultural raw materials. The center will develop on the market of premium products and functional food, and also participate in the creation of special-purpose food.
