SCOPE OF RESEARCH CONDUCTED
- Determining the harvest date, assessing the quality of fruit and vegetables.
- Assessment of the capacity, durability and storage value of fruits and vegetables.
- Assessment of the impact of pre- and post-harvest factors on the quality and shelf life of horticultural products.
- The use of innovative storage technologies, including dynamically controlled atmosphere, low-oxygen technologies, post-harvest treatment of fruits and vegetables (1-methylcyclopropene, hot water, 03, etc.) to maintain high quality horticultural products.
- The use of modern packaging systems to extend the shelf life of fruit and vegetables, including minimally processed ones.
- Conducting research on the use of spectrometric techniques for non-destructive assessment of ripeness and quality of fruits and vegetables.
- Analysis of volatile compounds (including aromas) emitted by horticultural products and their products
- Imaging using X-ray micro-computed tomography (µCT X – ray)
- Prediction, risk assessment and prevention of fruit and vegetable storage diseases.
- Development of technological recommendations for the storage and transport of horticultural products and minimally processed fruits and vegetables.
- Dissemination of knowledge in the field of fruit and vegetable storage through the participation of Laboratory employees in scientific conferences, fruit-growing meetings and publishing research results in scientific and popular science journals.
- Preparation of expert opinions on fruit and vegetable storage, including in court cases.
- Providing services to assess the maturity and quality of fruit and vegetables and to conduct storage experiments within projects and for business entities.
