SCOPE OF RESEARCH CONDUCTED
- Identification of weeds in horticultural crops and assessment of their harmfulness.
- Development and improvement of methods for protecting vegetable plants against weeds and assessment of their suitability for new production technologies.
- Research on the influence of weed control methods on vegetable yields, their biological value and storage durability.
- Assessment of the biological effectiveness of herbicides and adjuvants, as well as growth regulators and biostimulants in vegetable crops. These studies constitute the basis for the registration of these agents in Poland and other European Union countries.
- Research on the use of new weeding machines and tools in integrated weed management and their impact on changes in the weed infestation structure.
- The use of cover crops, mulch, nonwoven fabrics and biodegradable foil to prevent and reduce weed infestation and to observe their impact on the dynamics of changes in the weed population.
- Research on reducing the use of herbicides in integrated vegetable protection against weeds, including minimizing doses, verifying application methods, using mixtures of active substances with different mechanisms of action and adjuvants.
- The use of physical methods (flame control) in the protection of vegetables against weeds and analysis of their impact on soil microorganisms.
- Creation of a computer-aided decision-support system for horticultural plant protection.
- Updating and developing vegetable crop protection programs against weeds, intended for producers and advisors.
- Development of methodologies for integrated protection and integrated production of vegetable crops and preparation of lists of means for integrated production.
- Dissemination and implementation of research results and advice on the protection of vegetable plants against weeds.
- Evaluation of the effectiveness and usefulness of weed control methods in organic vegetable crops and their impact on changes in the weed population.
