Green laboratory complex

The investment is carried out under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO) Programme for part of the investment A2.4.1 "Investments in the expansion of research potential for part of the investment: construction or modernisation of institute laboratories".
Contract No.  KPOD.01.19–IP.04-0035/23-00 of August 11.10.2023, XNUMX

Mon Green laboratory complex

The purpose of the project is to increase the quality of R&D results with high commercialization potential in a key area for the agri-food sector, which is ensuring food security and the availability of high, guaranteed quality food, produced in a sustainable manner, without the negative impact of agriculture on the environment.

Achieving the goal will be possible thanks to the availability of modern research infrastructure, which IO-PIB plans to create within its structures, by ensuring its technological modernity and the ability to conduct research, especially in key areas, i.e. reducing the negative effects of the crisis and preparing the economy for future crises.

The reported investment project involves the creation of a laboratory complex consisting of two completely new R&D facilities, which will enable the transfer of the currently operating accredited Laboratories: the Food Safety Research Department and the Bee Products Quality Research Laboratory, to modern, energy-efficient premises. Additionally, both buildings will be equipped with apparatus, equipment and a LIMS system (Laboratory Information Management System) enabling the expansion of the range of services offered and the implementation of digital transformation procedures.

Effects of the project: supporting state action to limit the use of pesticides, counteracting food adulteration, supporting pro-environmental technologies that support the preservation of pollinating insects by tightening certification and control systems that ensure access to high-quality food for consumers. This project, through the construction of an appropriate Green Laboratory Complex, will effectively respond to the increasing demand for this type of research and official monitoring for food safety.

The project takes into account the assumptions of the universal design concept in accordance with the principles of sustainable development - rational use of natural resources, the principle of equal opportunities and non-discrimination and the principle of equal opportunities for women and men, as well as in accordance with Article 17 of Regulation (EU) No. 2020/852 (chapter on taxonomy) - the DNSH principle. The planned undertaking is a response to the objectives indicated in the KPO as part of the investment: A2.4.1. Investment in the expansion of research potential, i.e. it will strengthen economic growth, contribute to the creation of new jobs, affect the mitigation of the effects of the crisis, and above all, support the "green" and digital transformation and competitive sustainability by deepening the single market based on respecting safety principles while respecting the natural environment.
