Varieties and legal protection of fruit plant varieties bred by the Institute of Horticulture in Skierniewice
On 01 January 2011, pursuant to the regulation of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of 16 September 2010 (Journal of Laws No. 172, item 1166), on the merger of the Szczepan Pieniążek Institute of Pomology and Floriculture and the Emil Chroboczek Institute of Vegetable Crops, the Institute of Horticulture was established, which, as the legal successor of the Szczepan Pieniążek Institute of Pomology and Floriculture, assumed, by operation of law, the rights and obligations of the Szczepan Pieniążek Institute of Pomology and Floriculture (art. 11 sec. 1 of the Act of 30 April 2010 (Journal of Laws No. 96, item 618), becoming the owner of the fruit plant varieties.
The Institute of Horticulture in Skierniewice conducts creative breeding of fruit plant varieties. The aim of this activity is to create and introduce new varieties into production, better than those currently in cultivation. Breeding work includes the following species of fruit plants:
