Training for inspectors of certifying entities in the Integrated Production of Fruit and Vegetable Plants system

On December 16, 2025, the Institute of Horticulture - National Research Institute organized a free online training for inspectors of certifying entities in the Integrated Production of Fruit and Vegetable Plants system, implemented as part of the target task 6.3 "Updating and development of methodologies for integrated plant protection, Integrated Plant Production and signaller guides", financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The training participants were welcomed by Prof. Dr. hab. Bożena Matysiak, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs at IO-PIB, and Prof. Dr. hab. Mirosława Cieślińska, Task 6.3 Manager. In the first part, Dr. Grzegorz Gorzała from the Chief Inspectorate of Plant Health and Seed Inspection discussed the applicable legal regulations and certification principles in the Integrated Crop Production system, pointing out important requirements for certification bodies.
Then, Prof. Dr. Hab. Mirosława Cieślińska presented the Integrated Production Methodologies for Fruit and Vegetable Crops developed and updated in 2024–2025.
In the next part of the training, lectures were delivered by subject matter experts from the Institute of Horticulture-National Research Institute.
Dr. Monika Kałużna presented the Integrated Production Methodology for honeysuckle (haskap berries), Dr. Wojciech Warabieda discussed the principles of hazel production, Dr. Joanna Golian presented the IP methodology for broad beans, and Dr. Grażyna Soika, professor of the Institute of Orchards, presented the methodology for garden rhubarb. The speakers paid particular attention to the activities and treatments required for integrated production of these plant species.
Approximately 300 people participated in the training, including representatives of the Ministry of Rural Development, Agricultural Advisory Centers, Provincial Inspectorates of Plant Protection and Seed Inspection, the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture, inspectors from certification bodies from across Poland, as well as horticultural school teachers and producers. This large turnout demonstrates the significant interest in the practical application of Integrated Crop Production methodologies.
