Training entitled "Restoration of plum cultivation and development of fruit production of selected berry plant species in foothill areas"

On November 30, 2021, a training entitled "Restoration of plum cultivation and development of fruit production of selected berry plant species in foothill areas" was held at the Fruit Farming Experimental Station in Brzezna Sp. z o.o., where the lecturers were research workers from the Department of Variety Studies, Nursery and Genetic Resources of the Institute of Plant Cultivation and Plant Growing and the Fruit Farming Experimental Station in Brzezna Sp. z o.o. The training was prepared as part of task 10.1 "Restoration of plum cultivation and development of fruit production of selected berry plant species in foothill areas", financed as part of a targeted subsidy by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The following issues were discussed during the meeting:

  • Restoration and development of plum orchards in foothill conditions – mgr inż. Agnieszka Głowacka
  • The most important diseases and pests in plum cultivation – Witold Danelski, M.Sc.
  • Optimization of berry plant production in mountain and foothill areas with particular emphasis on raspberries and blackberries – Dr. Maria Buczek
  • Diseases and pests of berry plants that have a significant impact on the cultivation of the most important species and varieties of these plants - Dr. Maria Buczek

Participants in the training had the opportunity to see different methods of growing several species of berry plants on experimental plots located in the SZD in Brzezna.

The training was attended by 20 people, including employees of the Provincial Inspectorates for Plant Protection and Seed Inspection and the Małopolska Agricultural Advisory Centre, as well as fruit growers.
