It concerns research on the biological basis of fruit, vegetable and ornamental plant production, biotechnology, genetics and creative breeding of horticultural plants, agrotechnology, phytopathology, nursery and protection of genetic resources of fruit, vegetable and ornamental plants, plant irrigation, cultivation of edible mushrooms, processing and storage of fruit and vegetables, food safety, agroengineering, economics and marketing.
Due to the fact that all fruit plants and a significant part of vegetable plants are pollinated by insects, beekeeping also plays a significant role in the research program. Research is being carried out in the field of beekeeping, apiary technologies, the quality of bee products and plant pollination.
