Principles of cooperation between the Institute's units
- The general management of the Institute is in the hands of the Director, who represents the Institute externally. The scope of the Director's work is specified in § 6 of the Regulations.
- The Scientific Council is a decision-making, initiating, advisory and consultative body in the scope of the statutory activities of the Institute and in matters of the development of scientific and research-technical staff. The detailed tasks of the Council and its powers are specified in the Act on Research Institutes (see § 1). The Council operates on the basis of the regulations it has adopted.
- The Institute has a Board – a consultative and advisory body to the Director. The Board is composed of: Deputy Directors, the Scientific Secretary and persons appointed on an ad hoc basis. The Director of the Institute appoints and dismisses Members of the Board, convenes meetings and chairs the proceedings.
- Meetings of the Board, with the participation of all heads of organizational units, are held at least twice a year.
The management and coordination of the Institute's activities is carried out through:
- written or oral orders of the Director of the Institute, in which the guidelines of superior bodies and the Institute’s own orders are communicated for information and application,
- circular letters, bulletins and information intended for all employees,
- instructions and guidelines that regulate the entirety of a separate issue, implemented by the orders of the Director of the Institute.
Internal arrangements, decisions and all types of correspondence concerning the activities of the Institute are signed by the Director, Deputy Directors in matters subordinate to them, and employees authorized by the Director.
The Director or employees authorized by him are authorized to make declarations on behalf of the Institute.
The Institute of Horticulture - National Research Institute has the following organizational units::
- scientific and research units carrying out the core activities of the Institute,
- research support units,
- functional and service units dealing with finance, employment, accounting, public procurement, investments and administrative and economic services,
- field experimental plants,
- limited liability companies established by the Institute.
Among the scientific and research units, the following can be distinguished: Branches, Departments, Workshops, Laboratories, Sections.
Functional and service units include Departments, Sections, Teams and independent work stations.
Independent Workshops may function within the Institute.
Zakład Pszczelnictwa w Puławach (Division of Apiculture in Pulawy) is the only branch established at the Institute. The Department conducts research in the field of beekeeping. It consists of Laboratorium Badania Jakości Produktów Pszczelich (Bee Products Quality Testing Laboratory) , which performs quality tests of bee products.
